about

SKYLINES was written in 2015 in response to the growing Syrian refugee crisis. All proceeds from this song will be donated to NuDay Syria, a nonprofit directly benefitting Syrian refugees and Syrians in conflict zones. SKYLINES premiered in the performance Under The Overpass At Skylines, a collaboration between Cindertalk and Dance Waterloo, interacting with the sculpture installation Skylines by Melissa Borrell for the EAST Festival in Austin.

lyrics

SKYLINES

I can see the Skylines
I can see them from the beach
Close enough to touch the lights
It's almost within reach
Hold me like a brother...

Gather up the ordinary dust
The earth beneath my feet
Place your fingers on my eyes
The water waits for me

Fare-thee-well to all the blades of grass
That bent beneath my feet
Place your fingers on my eyes
The water waits for me

Tenderly you placed your hand upon
The arrow in my heel
Place your fingers on my eyes
The water waits for me

Is there anyone to hold me like a brother
Hands upon my eyes
Pull me from the water
Pull me to the side
Float me like a feather
Bring me to the light
It's alright

You who break the fetter
You who broke the stride
Pull me from the water
Pull me to the side
Hold me like a brother
Hands upon my eyes
It's alright
It's gonna come to light

Hold me like a brother
It's gonna come to light
Pull me from the water
Place your fingers on my eyes

Hold me like a brother

It's gonna come to light
